In vain have I struck your children: they have not received correction. Your sword hath devoured your prophets: your generation is like a ravaging lion.


And when they shall have finished their testimony, the beast, that ascendeth out of the abyss, shall make war against them, and shall overcome them, and kill them.


Who both killed the Lord Jesus, and the prophets, and have persecuted us, and please not God, and are adversaries to all men;


And he went up and down among the lions and became a lion and he learned to catch the prey and to devour men.


Therefore thus saith the Lord against Joakim the king of Juda: He shall have none to sit upon the throne of David: and his dead body shall be cast out to the heat by day and to the frost by night.


But know ye and understand, that if you put me to death, you will shed innocent blood against your own selves and against this city and the inhabitants thereof. For in truth the Lord sent me to you, to speak all these words in your hearing.


He shall be buried with the burial of an ass, rotten and cast forth without the gates of Jerusalem.


They were stoned, they were cut asunder, they were tempted, they were put to death by the sword, they wandered about in sheepskins, in goatskins, being in want, distressed, afflicted:


And he did evil before the Lord according to all that his fathers had done.


But thy eyes and thy heart are set upon covetousness and upon shedding innocent blood and upon oppression and running after evil works.
