(Let him not see the streams of the river, the brooks of honey and of butter.)


Not so the wicked, not so: but like the dust, which the wind driveth from the face of the earth.


Burning it with brimstone, and the heat of salt, so that it cannot be sown any more, nor any green thing grow therein, after the example of the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrha, Adama and Seboim, which the Lord destroyed in his wrath and indignation:


Flee, save your lives: and be as heath in the wilderness.


To whom I have given a house in the wilderness, and his dwellings in the barren land.


Therefore as I live, saith the Lord of hosts the God of Israel, Moab shall be as Sodom, and the children of Ammon as Gomorrha, the dryness of thorns, and heaps of salt, and a desert even for ever: the remnant of my people shall make a spoil of them, and the residue of my nation shall possess them.


And Abimelech assaulted the city all that day: and took it, and killed the inhabitants thereof: and demolished it, so that he sowed salt in it.


But on the shore thereof, and in the fenny places they shall not be healed, because they shall be turned into saltpits.


When you shall be as an oak with the leaves falling off and as a garden without water.


Then one of the lords, upon whose hand the king leaned, answering the man of God, said: If the Lord should make flood-gates in heaven, can that possibly be which thou sayest? And he said: Thou shalt see it with thy eyes, but shalt not eat thereof.


Therefore thus saith the Lord: Behold I will visit upon Semeias the Nehelamite and upon his seed. He shall not have a man to sit in the midst of this people and he shall not see the good that I will do to my people, saith the Lord: because he hath spoken treason against the Lord.
