16 And the Lord said: Because the daughters of Sion are haughty, and have walked with stretched out-necks and wanton glances of their eyes, and made a noise as they walked with their feet, and moved in a set pace:

If the Lord shall wash away the filth of the daughters of Sion, and shall wash away the blood of Jerusalem out of the midst thereof, by the spirit of judgment and by the spirit of burning.


Tell ye the daughter of Sion: Behold thy king cometh to thee, meek, and sitting upon an ass, and a colt the foal of her that is used to the yoke.


Go forth, ye daughters of Sion, and see king Solomon in the diadem, wherewith his mother crowned him in the day of his espousals, and in the day of the joy of his heart.


A generation, whose eyes are lofty, and their eyelids lifted up on high.


But Jesus turning to them, said: Daughters of Jerusalem, weep not over me; but weep for yourselves, and for your children.


In that day thou shalt not be ashamed for all thy doings, wherein thou hast transgressed against me: for then I will take away out of the midst of thee thy proud boasters, and thou shalt no more be lifted up because of my holy mountain.


The earth mourned, and faded away, and is weakened: the world faded away: the height of the people of the earth is weakened.


In that day, the Lord will take away the ornaments of shoes, and little moons:


And the daughter of Sion shall be left as a covert in a vineyard, and as a lodge in a garden of cucumbers, and as a city that is laid waste.


Pride goeth before destruction: and the spirit is lifted up before a fall.


FOR, behold, the sovereign the Lord of hosts, shall take away from Jerusalem and from Juda the valiant and the strong, the whole strength of bread, and the whole strength of water.


And I will give children ato be their princes: and the effeminate shall rule over them.


The Lord will make bald the crown of the head of the daughters of Sion: and the Lord will discover their hair.


Haughtiness of the eyes is the enlarging of the heart: the lamp of the wicked is sin.
