And Rebecca had a brother named Laban, who went out in haste to the man, to the well.


Who brought her into the tent of Sara his mother, and took her to wife. And he loved her so much, that it moderated the sorrow which was occasioned by his mother's death.


And Bathuel, of whom was born Rebecca: These eight did Melcha bear to Nachor, Abraham's brother.


And thou shalt speak thus in the sight of the Lord thy God: The Syrian pursued my father, who went down into Egypt, and sojourned there in a very small number, and grew into a nation great and strong and of an infinite multitude.


And he saw in a dream God saying to him: Take heed thou speak not any thing harshly against Jacob.


And Jacob would not confess to his father-in-law that he was flying away.


And he took all his substance, and flocks, and whatsoever he had gotten in Mesopotamia: and went forward to Isaac his father to the land of Chanaan.


And there were many lepers in Israel in the time of Eliseus the prophet: and none of them was cleansed but Naaman the Syrian.


And God appeared again to Jacob, after he returned from Mesopotamia of Syria, and he blessed him,


He had not yet ended these words within himself, and, behold, Rebecca came out, the daughter of Bathuel, son of Melcha, wife to Nachor the brother of Abraham, having a pitcher on her shoulder.


Isaac was threescore years old when the children were born unto him.


But go, and take a journey to Mesopotamia of Syria, to the house of Bathuel, thy mother's father: and take thee a wife thence of the daughters of Laban thy uncle.


And that Jacob obeying his parents was gone into Syria:


And he passed over to Salem, a city of the Sichemites, which is in the land of Chanaan, after he returned from Mesopotamia of Syria: and he dwelt by the town.


The sons of Zelpha, Lia's handmaid: Gad and Aser. These are the sons of Jacob, that were born to him in Mesopotamia of Syria.


These are the sons of Lia, whom she bore in Mesopotamia of Syria, with Dina his daughter. All the souls of her sons and daughters, thirty-three.


Now therefore, my son, hear my voice: Arise and flee to Laban, my brother, to Haran:
