17 And they brought him forth, and set him without the city. And there they spoke to him, saying: Save thy life: look not back, neither stay thou in all the country about: but save thyself in the mountain, lest thou be also consumed.

Jesus said to him: No man putting his hand to the plough, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God.


And his wife looking behind her was turned into a statue of salt.


Make haste and be saved there, because I cannot do any thing till thou go in thither. Therefore the name of that city was called Segor.


And seeing many of the Pharisees and Sadducees coming to his baptism, he said to them: Ye brood of vipers, who hath shewed you to flee from the wrath to come?


Flee, save your lives: and be as heath in the wilderness.


Then Elias was afraid, and rising up he went whithersoever he had a mind. And he came to Bersabee of Juda, and left his servant there.


And Lot, lifting up his eyes, saw all the country about the Jordan, which was watered throughout, before the Lord destroyed Sodom and Gomorrha, as the paradise of the Lord, and like Egypt as one comes to Segor.


I rejoiced at the things that were said to me: We shall go into the house of the Lord.


Saul therefore sent his guards to David's house to watch him, that he might be killed in the morning. And when Michol David's wife had told him this, saying: Unless thou save thyself this night, to-morrow thou wilt die,

He said to the multitude: Depart from the tents of these wicked men, and touch nothing of theirs, lest you be involved in their sins.


Now then come, take my counsel and save thy life, and the life of thy son Solomon.


The life is more than the meat, and the body is more than the raiment.
