Fathers, provoke not your children to indignation, lest they be discouraged.


It is a proverb: A young man according to his way, even when he is old he will not depart from it.


The rod and reproof give wisdom: but the child that is left to his own will bringeth his mother to shame.


Chastise thy son, despair not: but to the killing of him set not thy soul.


And thou shalt tell them to thy children: and thou shalt meditate upon them sitting in thy house, and walking on thy journey, sleeping and rising.


Instruct thy son, and he shall refresh thee, and shall give delight to thy soul.


And because from thy infancy thou hast known the holy scriptures, which can instruct thee to salvation, by the faith which is in Christ Jesus.


For I know that he will command his children, and his household after him, to keep the way of the Lord, and do judgment and justice: that for Abraham's sake the Lord may bring to effect all the things he hath spoken unto him.


Keep thyself therefore, and thy soul carefully. Forget not the words that thy eyes have seen: and let them not go out of thy heart all the days of thy life. Thou shalt teach them to thy sons and to thy grandsons,


Calling to mind that faith which is in thee unfeigned, which also dwelt first in thy grandmother Lois, and in thy mother Eunice, and I am certain that in thee also.


Folly is bound up in the heart of a child, and the rod of correction shall drive it away.


And David said to Solomon his son: Act like a man, and take courage, and do. Fear not, and be not dismayed: for the Lord my God will be with thee, and will not leave thee, nor forsake thee, till thou hast finished all the work for the service of the house of the Lord.


The living, the living, he shall give praise to thee, as I do this day: the father shall make thy truth known to the children.


But if it seem evil to you to serve the Lord, you have your choice: choose this day that which pleaseth you, whom you would rather serve, whether the gods which your fathers served in Mesopotamia, or the gods of the Amorrhites, in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house we will serve the Lord.


And give to Solomon my son a perfect heart, that he may keep thy commandments, thy testimonies, and thy ceremonies, and do all things: and build the house, for which I have provided the charges.


That it may be well with thee, and thou mayest be long lived upon earth.


And Manue said to him: When thy word shall come to pass, what wilt thou that the child should do? Or from what shall he keep himself?
