Did not Solomon king of Israel sin in this kind of thing? And surely among many nations there was not a king like him. And he was beloved of his God, and God made him king over all Israel: and yet women of other countries brought even him to sin.


And Jehu the son of Hanani, the seer, met him and said to him: Thou helpest the ungodly; and thou art joined in friendship with them that hate the Lord: and therefore thou didst deserve indeed the wrath of the Lord.


And thou shalt make the holy oil of unction: an ointment compounded after the art of the perfumer,


For he had taken money, that I being afraid should do this thing and sin; and they might have some evil to upbraid me withal.


As the sand of the sea this would appear heavier: therefore my words are full of sorrow.


Better is wisdom, than weapons of war: and he that shall offend in one, shall lose many good things.


Thus saith the Lord of hosts: Ask the priests the law, saying:


If a man carry sanctified flesh in the skirt of his garment, and touch with his skirt, bread, or pottage, or wine, or oil, or any meat: shall it be sanctified? And the priests answered, and said: No.
