I will heap evils upon them: and will spend my arrows among them.


For this is the day of the Lord the God of hosts, a day of vengeance, that he may revenge himself of his enemies. The sword shall devour and shall be filled and shall be drunk with their blood: for there is a sacrifice of the Lord God of hosts in the north country, by the river Euphrates.


He. The Lord is become as an enemy: he hath cast down Israel headlong, he hath overthrown all the walls thereof: he hath destroyed his strongholds, and hath multiplied in the daughter of Juda the afflicted, both men and women.


Declare ye to Egypt and publish it in Magdal, and let it be known in Memphis and in Taphnis. Say ye: Stand up, and prepare thyself: for the sword shall devour all round about thee.


All thy lovers have forgotten thee and will not seek after thee: for I have wounded thee with the wound of an enemy, with a cruel chastisement: by reason of the multitude of thy iniquities, thy sins are hardened.


And when thou shalt tell this people all these words and they shall say to thee: Wherefore hath the Lord pronounced against us all this great evil? What is our iniquity? and what is our sin, that we have sinned against the Lord our God?
