1 I saw the Lord standing upon the altar, and he said: Strike the hinges, and let the lintels be shook: for there is covetousness in the head of them all, and I will slay the last of them with the sword: there shall be no flight for them: they shall flee, and he that shall flee of them shall not be delivered.

In thy sight are all they that afflict me; my heart hath expected reproach and misery. And I looked for one that would grieve together with me, but there was none: and for one that would comfort me, and I found none.


And when I had seen him, I fell at his feet as dead. And he laid his right hand upon me, saying: Fear not. I am the First and the Last,


No man hath seen God at any time: the only begotten Son who is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him.


Thou wentest forth for the salvation of thy people: for salvation with thy Christ. Thou struckest the head of the house of the wicked: thou hast laid bare his foundation even to the neck.


That in the day when I shall begin to visit the transgressions of Israel, I will visit upon him, and upon the altars of Bethel: and the horns of the altars shall be cut off, and shall fall to the ground.


IN the year that king Ozias died, I saw the Lord sitting upon a throne high and elevated: and his train filled the temple.


And John gave testimony, saying: I saw the Spirit coming down, as a dove from heaven, and he remained upon him.


And flocks shall lie down in the midst thereof, all the beasts of the nations: and the bittern and the urchin shall lodge in the threshold thereof: the voice of the singing bird in the window, the raven on the upper post, for I will consume her strength.


And the glory of the Lord was lifted up from above the cherub to the threshold of the house: and the house was filled with the cloud, and the court was filled with the brightness of the glory of the Lord.


And, behold, six men came from the way of the upper gate, which looketh to the north: and each one had his weapon of destruction in his hand. And there was one man in the midst of them clothed with linen, with a writer's inkhorn at his reins. And they went in and stood by the brazen altar.


As the appearance of the rainbow when it is in a cloud on a rainy day: this was the appearance of the brightness round about.


He that shall flee from the fear shall fall into the pit: and he that shall get up out of the pit shall be taken in the snare: for I will bring upon Moab the year of their visitation, saith the Lord.


But have said: No, but we will flee to horses: therefore shall you flee. And we will mount upon swift ones: therefore shall they be swifter that shall pursue after you.


Then he said: Hear ye therefore the word of the Lord: I saw the Lord sitting on his throne, and all the army of heaven standing by him on the right hand and on the left.


At midday, O king, I saw in the way a light from heaven above the brightness of the sun, shining round about me, and them that were in company with me.


And another angel came, and stood before the altar, having a golden censer; and there was given to him much incense, that he should offer of the prayers of all saints upon the golden altar, which is before the throne of God.


And they gave me gall for my food, and in my thirst they gave me vinegar to drink.


Wherefore thus saith the Lord: Behold, I will bring in evils upon them, which they shall not be able to escape: and they shall cry to me, and I will not hearken to them.


The sword which you fear, shall overtake you there in the land of Egypt: and the famine whereof you are afraid shall cleave to you in Egypt: and there you shall die.


And I will set my face against them. They shall go out from fire: and fire shall consume them. And you shall know that I am the Lord, when I shall have set my face against them.


Therefore thus saith the Lord: Thy wife shall play the harlot in the city, and thy sons and thy daughters shall fall by the sword, and thy land shall be measured by a line: and thou shalt die in a polluted land, and Israel shall go into captivity out of their land.


And it shall come to pass at that time, that I will search Jerusalem with lamps, and will visit upon the men that are settled on their lees: that say in their hearts: The Lord will not do good, nor will he do evil.


And he commanded them that were with him, saying: Roll great stones to the mouth of the cave, and set careful men, to keep them shut up.


And the high places of the idol shall be thrown down, and the sanctuaries of Israel shall be laid waste: and I will rise up against the house of Jeroboam with the sword.
