And the name of Saul's wife was Achinoam the daughter of Achimaas. And the name of the captain of his army was Abner, the son of Ner, the cousin german of Saul.


And when he saw them, he said: These are the camps of God. And he called the name of that place Mahanaim, that is, Camps.


Now Ner begot Cis: and Cis begot Saul: and Saul beget Jonathan and Melchisua, and Abinadab, and Esbaal.


And Ner begot Cis, and Cis begot Saul. And Saul begot Jonathan and Melchisua, and Abinadab, and Esbaal.


David cried to the people, and to Abner the son of Ner, saying: Wilt thou not answer, Abner? And Abner answering said: Who art thou, that criest, and disturbest the king?


Now at the time that Saul saw David going out against the Philistines, he said to Abner the captain of the army: Of what family is this young man descended, Abner? And Abner said: As thy soul liveth, O king, I know not.


All the cities of the children of Merari by their families and kindreds were twelve.

And he sent messengers before him to Esau his brother to the land of Seir to the country of Edom:


The king also said to his servants: Do you not know that a prince and great man is slain this day in Israel?


And of the sons of Ephraim, twenty thousand eight hundred, men of great valour renowned in their kindreds.
