For the Lord God doth nothing without revealing his secret to his servants the prophets.


Woe to you that are deep of heart, to hide your counsel from the Lord! And their works are in the dark, and they say: Who seeth us, and who knoweth us?


Detract not the king, no not in thy thought; and speak not evil of the rich man in thy private chamber: because even the birds of the air will carry thy voice, and he that hath wings will tell what thou hast said.


And she said to her mistress: I wish my master had been with the prophet, that is in Samaria. He would certainly have healed him of the leprosy which he hath.


And when Eliseus the man of God had heard this, to wit, that the king of Israel had rent his garments, he sent to him, saying: Why hast thou rent thy garments? Let him come to me; and let him know that there is a prophet in Israel.


And the river shall bring forth an abundance of frogs: which shall come up, and enter into thy house, and thy bedchamber, and upon thy bed, and in the houses of thy servants, and to thy people, and into thy ovens, and into the remains of thy meats.


And the heart of the king of Syria was troubled for this thing. And calling together his servants, he said: Why do you not tell me who it is that betrays me to the king of Israel?


And he said to them: Go, and see where he is, that I may send, and take him. And they told him, saying: Behold, he is in Dothan.


But he said: Was not my heart present, when the man turned back from his chariot to meet thee? So now thou hast received money, and received garments, to buy oliveyards, and vineyards, and sheep, and oxen, and men-servants, and maid-servants.


There is no wisdom, there is no prudence, there is no counsel against the Lord.


Take counsel together, and it shall be defeated: speak a word, and it shall not be done: because God is with us.
