Lying in wait for him, and seeking to catch something from his mouth, that they might accuse him.


The burden of the beasts of the south. In a land of trouble and distress, from whence come the lioness and the lion, the viper and the flying basilisk, they carry their riches upon the shoulders of beasts and their treasures upon the bunches of camels, to a people that shall not be able to profit them.


And when they saw that there was very much money in the chest, the king's scribe and the high priest came up, and poured it out, and counted the money that was found in the house of the Lord.


And one of them said: But come thou also with thy servants. He answered: I will come.


But he answered: As the Lord liveth, before whom I stand, I will receive none. And when he pressed him, he still refused.


But they pressed him, till he consented, and said: Send. And they sent fifty men: and they sought three days but found him not.


And the king of Israel called all the ancients of the land, and said: Mark, and see that he layeth snares for us. For he sent to me for my wives, and for my children, and for my silver and gold: and I said not nay.


And the king of Syria sad to him: Go, and I will send a letter to the king of Israel. And he departed, and took with him ten talents of silver, and six thousand pieces of gold, and tell changes of raiment.


And take the blessing, which I have brought thee, and which God hath given me, who giveth all things. He took it with much ado at his brother's earnest pressing him,
