This is the people whom Nabuchodonosor carried away captive: in the seventh year, three thousand and twenty-three Jews.


But of the poor of the land he left some dressers of vines and husbandmen.


And all the strong men, seven thousand, and the artificers, and the smiths, a thousand, all that were valiant men and fit for war: and the king of Babylon led them captives into Babylon.


But of the poor of the land, Nabuzardan the general left some for vinedressers and for husbandmen.


And when all the captains of the army that were scattered through the countries, they and their companions, had heard that the king of Babylon had made Godolias the son of Ahicam governor of the country and that he had committed unto him men and women and children and of the poor of the land them that had not been carried away captive to Babylon:


But Nabuzardan the general left some of the poor people, that had nothing at all, in the land of Juda: and he gave them vineyards and cisterns at that time.


That it may be a low kingdom and not lift itself up, but keep his covenant, and observe it.


After that Jechonias the king and the queen and the eunuchs and the princes of Juda and of Jerusalem and the craftsman and the engravers were departed out of Jerusalem:


And Josias begot Jechonias and his brethren in the transmigration of Babylon.


And after the transmigration of Babylon, Jechonias begot Salathiel. And Salathiel begot Zorobabel.


So all the generations, from Abraham to David, are fourteen generations. And from David to the transmigration of Babylon, are fourteen generations: and from the transmigration of Babylon to Christ are fourteen generations.


The Lord shall bring thee, and thy king, whom thou shalt have appointed over thee, into a nation which thou and thy fathers know not: and there thou shalt serve strange gods, wood and stone.


Now there was no smith to be found in all the land of Israel; for the Philistines had taken this precaution, lest the Hebrews should make them swords or spears.


Now these are the children of the province, that went out of the captivity, which Nabuchodonosor king of Babylon had carried away to Babylon, and who returned to Jerusalem and Juda every man to his city;


The strong man and the man of war, the judge and the prophet, and the cunning man, and the ancient:


Which Nabuchodonosor the king of Babylon did not take, when he carried away Jechonias the son of Joakim the king of Juda, from Jerusalem to Babylon, and all the great men of Juda and Jerusalem.


And all Israel was numbered: and the sum of them was written in the book of the kings of Israel, and Juda. And they were carried away to Babylon for their transgression.


That Hanani one of my brethren came, he and some men of Juda; and I asked them concerning the Jews, that remained and were left of the captivity, and concerning Jerusalem.


And I will bring back to this place Jechonias the son of Joakim king of Juda and all the captives of Juda that are gone to Babylon, saith the Lord: for I will break the yoke of the king of Babylon.


And say: Thus saith the Lord God: A large eagle with great wings, long-limbed, full of feathers and of variety, came to Libanus and took away the marrow of the cedar.
