And Achaz sent messengers to Theglathphalasar king of the Assyrians, saying: I am thy servant, and thy son. Come up, and save me out of the hand of the king of Syria, and out of the hand of the king of Israel, who are risen up together against me.


What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who is against us?


Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and behold I am with you all days, even to the consummation of the world.


And he shall be like a tree which is planted near the running waters, which shall bring forth its fruit, in due season. And his leaf shall not fall off: and all whatsoever he shall do shall prosper.


This same Ezechias was he that stopped the upper source of the waters of Gihon, and turned them away underneath toward the west of the city of David. In all his works he did prosperously what he would.


In all the service of the ministry of the house of the Lord according to the law and the ceremonies, desiring to seek his God with all his heart. And he did it and prospered.


And David behaved wisely in all his ways, and the Lord was with him.


Behold a virgin shall be with child, and bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.


And he went out to meet Asa, and said to him: Hear ye me, Asa, and all Juda and Benjamin: The Lord is with you, because you have been with him. If you seek him, you shall find: but if you forsake him, he will forsake you.


Perhaps thou hast taken counsel, to prepare thyself for battle. On whom dost thou trust, that thou darest to rebel?


And David went out to whatsoever business Saul sent him, and he behaved himself prudently. And Saul set him over the soldiers; and he was acceptable in the eyes of all the people, and especially in the eyes of Saul's servants.


And David put garrisons in Syria of Damascus: and Syria served David under tribute. And the Lord preserved David in all his enterprises, whithersoever he went.


At the same time Abimelech, and Phicol, the general of his army, said to Abraham: God is with thee in all that thou dost.


And he put guards in Edom, and placed there a garrison: and all Edom was made to serve David. And the Lord preserved David in all enterprises he went about.


Then Ezechias king of Juda sent messengers to the king of the Assyrians to Lachis, saying: I have offended, depart from me; and all that thou shalt put upon me, I will bear. And the king of the Assyrians put a tax upon Ezechias king of Juda, of three hundred talents of silver, and thirty talents of gold.


And there shall be faith in thy times, riches of salvation, wisdom and knowledge: the fear of the Lord is his treasure.


Or with what counsel or strength dost thou prepare for war? On whom dost thou trust, that thou art revolted from me?


And the Lord was with Juda, and he possessed the hill country: but was not able to destroy the inhabitants of the valley, because they had many chariots armed with scythes.


Against him came up Salmanasar king of the Assyrians, and Osee became his servant, and paid him tribute.
