Are not you as the children of the Ethiopians unto me, O children of Israel, saith the Lord? did not I bring up Israel, out of the land of Egypt: and the Philistines out of Cappadocia, and the Syrians out of Cyrene?


And Elam took the quiver, the chariot of the horseman: and the shield was taken down from the wall.


And the Lord shall set up the enemies of Rasin over him, and shall bring on his enemies in a crowd:


For before the child know to refuse the evil, and to choose the good, the land which thou abhorrest shall be forsaken of the face of her two kings.


And Achaz stripped the house of the Lord, and the house of the kings, and of the princes, and gave gifts to the king of the Assyrians. And yet it availed him nothing.


And the Lord his God delivered him into the hands of the king of Syria, who defeated him, and took a great booty out of his kingdom, and carried it to Damascus. He was also delivered into the hands of the king of Israel, who overthrew him with a great slaughter.


Are not my princes as so many kings? Is not Calano as Charcamis, and Emath as Arphad? Is not Samaria as Damascus?


THE burden of Damascus. Behold, Damascus shall cease to be a city, and shall be as a ruinous heap of stones.


For of a truth, O Lord, the kings of the Assyrians have laid waste lands, and their countries.


And then Benadad heard this, he sent the captains of his armies against the cities of Israel. And they took Ahion, and Dan, and Abelmaim, and all the walled cities of Nephtali.


The bricks are fallen down, but we will build with square stones: they have cut down the sycamores, but we will change them for cedars.
