12 It is a reason for pride and exultation to which our conscience testifies that we have conducted ourselves in the world [generally] and especially toward you, with devout and pure motives and godly sincerity, not in fleshly wisdom but by the grace of God (the unmerited favor and merciful kindness by which God, exerting His holy influence upon souls, turns them to Christ, and keeps, strengthens, and increases them in Christian virtues).

Which things also we speak, not in the learned words of human wisdom; but in the doctrine of the Spirit, comparing spiritual things with spiritual.

For we are not as many, adulterating the word of God; but with sincerity, but as from God, before God, in Christ we speak.

You are witnesses, and God also, how holily, and justly, and without blame, we have been to you that have believed:

Whereunto baptism being of the like form, now saveth you also: not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the examination of a good conscience towards God by the resurrection of Jesus Christ.

Pray for us. For we trust we have a good conscience, being willing to behave ourselves well in all things.

I speak not as commanding; but by the carefulness of others, approving also the good disposition of your charity.

But we renounce the hidden things of dishonesty, not walking in craftiness, nor adulterating the word of God; but by manifestation of the truth commending ourselves to every man's conscience, in the sight of God.

But by the grace of God, I am what I am; and his grace in me hath not been void, but I have laboured more abundantly than all they: yet not I, but the grace of God with me.

And herein do I endeavour to have always a conscience without offence toward God, and towards men.

AND Paul looking upon the council, said: Men, brethren, I have conversed with all good conscience before God until this present day.

Although he should kill me, I will trust in him. But yet I will reprove my ways in his sight;

But with modesty and fear, having a good conscience: that whereas they speak evil of you, they may be ashamed who falsely accuse your good conversation in Christ.

Now the end of the commandment is charity, from a pure heart, and a good conscience, and an unfeigned faith.

That you may approve the better things, that you may be sincere and without offence unto the day of Christ,

Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of justice,

But let every one prove his own work, and so he shall have glory in himself only, and not in another.

But I fear lest, as the serpent seduced Eve by his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted, and fall from the simplicity that is in Christ.

Whereas then I was thus minded, did I use lightness? Or, the things that I purpose, do I purpose according to the flesh, that there should be with me, It is, and It is not?

Therefore let us feast, not with the old leaven, nor with the leaven of malice and wickedness; but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth.

For I am not conscious to myself of any thing, yet am I not hereby justified; but he that judgeth me, is the Lord.

I SPEAK the truth in Christ, I lie not, my conscience bearing me witness in the Holy Ghost:

And said: I beseech thee, O Lord, remember how I have walked before thee in truth, and with a perfect heart, and have done that which is good in thy sight. And Ezechias wept with great weeping.

Now therefore fear the Lord, and serve him with a perfect and most sincere heart. And put away the gods which your fathers served in Mesopotamia and in Egypt, and serve the Lord.

But he giveth greater grace. Wherefore he saith: God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble.

In all things shew thyself an example of good works, in doctrine, in integrity, in gravity,

For Christ sent me not to baptize, but to preach the gospel: not in wisdom of speech, lest the cross of Christ should be made void.

To one indeed, by the Spirit, is given the word of wisdom: and to another, the word of knowledge, according to the same Spirit;

Because I have kept the ways of the Lord: and have not wickedly departed from my God.
