Saul also departed to his own house in Gabaa: and there went with him a part of the army, whose hearts God had touched.


And when the angel of the Lord spoke these words to all the children of Israel, they lifted up their voice, and wept.


David and the people that were with him lifted up their voices, and wept till they had no more tears.


And Samuel departed to Ramatha: but Saul went up to his house in Gabaa.


And they all came to the house of God in Silo: and abiding before him till the evening lifted up their voices, and began to lament and weep, saying:


Remember them that are in bands, as if you were bound with them; and them that labour, as being yourselves also in the body.


Bear ye one another's burdens; and so you shall fulfil the law of Christ.


And if one member suffer any thing, all the members suffer with it; or if one member glory, all the members rejoice with it.


Rejoice with them that rejoice; weep with them that weep.


Let seven men of his children be delivered unto us, that we may crucify them to the Lord in Gabaa of Saul, once the chosen of the Lord. And the king said: I will give them.


And Saul abode in the uttermost part of Gabaa under the pomegranate tree, which was in Magron: and the people with him were about six hundred men.


And Esac said to him: Hast thou only one blessing, father? I beseech thee, bless me also. And when he wept with a loud cry,


Yet so that they first went up and wept before the Lord until night, and consulted him, and said: Shall I go out any more to fight against the children of Benjamin my brethren, or not? And he answered them: Go up against them, and join battle.


Wherefore all the children of Israel came to the house of God, and sat and wept before the Lord. And they fasted that day till the evening, and offered to him holocausts, and victims of peace-offerings:


The chief was Ahiezer, and Joas, the sons of Samaa of Gabaath, and Jaziel, and Phallet, the sons of Azmoth, and Beracha, and Jehu an Anathothite.
