My son, fear the Lord and the king: and have nothing to do with detracters.


The king also sent, and called for Semei, and said to him: Build thee a house in Jerusalem, and dwell there; and go not out from thence any whither.


And Bethsabee bowing with her face to the earth worshipped the king, saying: May my lord David live for ever.


Bethsabee bowed herself, and worshipped the king. And the king said to her: What is thy will?


And Absalom dwelt two years in Jerusalem, and saw not the king's face.


But the king said: Let him return unto his house, and let him not see my face. So Absalom returned into his house, and saw not the king's face.


And on the third day there appeared a man who came out of Saul's camp, with his garments rent, and dust strewed on his head: and when he came to David he fell upon his face, and adored.


And Solomon said: If he be a good man, there shall not so much as one hair of his head fall to the ground; but if evil be found in him, he shall die.


And the days of David drew nigh that he should die, and he charged his son Solomon, saying:


So Joab going in to the king told him all; and Absalom was called for. And he went in to the king, and prostrated himself on the ground before him: and the king kissed Absalom.
