And the people said to Saul: Shall Jonathan then die, who hath wrought this great salvation in Israel? This must not be. As the Lord liveth, there shall not one hair of his head fall to the ground: for he hath wrought with God this day. So the people delivered Jonathan, that he should not die.


And she said: Let the king remember the Lord his God, that the next of kin be not multiplied to take revenge, and that they may not kill my son. And he said: As the Lord liveth, there shall not one hair of thy son fall to the earth.


Justice keepeth the way of the innocent: but wickedness overthroweth the sinner.


The just considereth seriously the house of the wicked, that he may withdraw the wicked from evil.


He believeth not that he may return from darkness to light, looking round about for the sword on every side.


Wherefore I pray you to take some meat for your health's sake; for there shall not an hair of the head of any of you perish.


But the very hairs of your head are all numbered.


And they told Solomon, saying: Behold, Adonias, fearing king Solomon, hath taken hold of the horn of the altar, saying: Let king Solomon swear to me this day, that he will not kill his servant with the sword.


Then king Solomon sent, and brought him out from the altar. And going in he worshipped king Solomon: and Solomon said to him: Go to thy house.
