The Lord said: I have seen how my people are suffering as slaves in Egypt, and I have heard them beg for my help because of the way they are being mistreated. I feel sorry for them,


I was a nobody, but I prayed, and the Lord saved me from all my troubles.


They poured out the blood of your people and your prophets. So you gave them blood to drink as they deserve!”


I created humans to be like me, and I will punish any animal or person that takes a human life. If an animal kills someone, that animal must die. And if a person takes the life of another, that person must be put to death.


The Lord will come out to punish everyone on earth for their sins. And when he does, those who did violent crimes will be known and punished.


The Lord doesn't hate or despise the helpless in all of their troubles. When I cried out, he listened and did not turn away.


Then the Israelites got rid of the idols of the foreign gods, and they began worshiping only the Lord. Finally, there came a time when the Lord could no longer stand to see them suffer.


and the prayers of the homeless will be answered.


You listen to the longings of those who suffer. You offer them hope, and you pay attention to their cries for help.


But you see the trouble and the distress, and you will do something. The poor can count on you, and so can orphans.


and caused many innocent people to die. The Lord would not forgive this.


My people have begged for my help, and I have seen how cruel the Egyptians are to them.


That's why you will be held guilty for the murder of every good person, beginning with the good man Abel. This also includes Barachiah's son Zechariah, the man you murdered between the temple and the altar.


When you, Lord God, appeared to your people at Sinai, you came with thousands of mighty chariots.


Remember the people you rescued long ago, the tribe you chose for your very own. Think of Mount Zion, your home;


There you destroyed fiery arrows, shields, swords, and all the other weapons.


You have gladly chosen Zion as your home, our Lord.


My children and I are warning signs to Israel from the Lord All-Powerful, who lives on Mount Zion.
