Make certain that you obey everything I have said. Don't pray to other gods or even mention their names.


Don't have anything to do with the nations that live around you. Don't worship their gods or pray to their idols or make promises in the names of their gods.


Those who brag about the useless idols they worship are terribly ashamed, and all the false gods bow down to the Lord.


All kinds of troubles will strike the wicked, but your kindness shields those who trust you, Lord.


All who worship worthless idols turn from the God who offers them mercy.


You have chosen to worship idols made of stone; you have given them offerings of wine and grain. Should I be pleased?


Children gather firewood, their fathers build fires, and their mothers mix dough to bake bread for the goddess they call the Queen of Heaven. They even offer wine sacrifices to other gods, just to insult me.


You sacrifice oxen to me, and you commit murder; you sacrifice lambs to me and dogs to other gods; you offer grain to me and pigs' blood to idols; you burn incense to me and praise your idols. You have made your own choice to do these disgusting things that you enjoy so much.


What will I, the Lord, do if any of you reject me and my holy mountain? What will happen to you for offering food and wine to the gods you call “Good Luck” and “Fate”?
