Don't charge interest when you lend money to any of my people who are in need.


Others of you accept money to murder someone. Your own people charge high interest when making a loan to other Israelites, and they get rich by cheating. Worst of all, you have forgotten me, the Lord God.

You know these things, and God will bless you, if you do them.


Sin cannot offer security! But if you live right, you will be as secure as a tree with deep roots.


They won't ever be troubled, and the kind things they do will never be forgotten.


You bless those people who are honest and fair in everything they do.


Our Lord, we belong to you. We tell you what worries us, and you won't let us fall.

People cooperate to commit crime. Judges and leaders demand bribes, and rulers cheat in court.


And if wicked people start doing right, they will save themselves from punishment.

But there will be rewards for those who live right and tell the truth, for those who refuse to take money by force or accept bribes, for all who hate murder and violent crimes.


In fact, I will get so angry that I will kill your men and make widows of their wives and orphans of their children.


People of Israel, if you make a sacred promise to give a gift to the Lord, then do it as soon as you can. If the Lord has to come looking for the gift you promised, you will be guilty of breaking that promise.


Let me ask this. Have I ever taken anyone's ox or donkey or forced you to give me anything? Have I ever hurt anyone or taken a bribe to give an unfair decision? Answer me so the Lord and his chosen king can hear you. And if I have done any of these things, I will give it all back.


Good people will stand firm, but the wicked will disappear from the land.


Being greedy causes trouble for your family, but you protect yourself by refusing bribes.
