The Israelites also killed Balaam the son of Beor, who had been a fortuneteller.


If I use the power of Beelzebul to force out demons, whose power do your own followers use to force them out? Your followers are the ones who will judge you.


They will be afraid and say, “Look at what God has done and keep it all in mind.”


Then God, who gives peace, will soon crush Satan under your feet. I pray that our Lord Jesus will be kind to you.


Balaam was sure that the Lord would tell him to bless Israel again. So he did not use any magic to find out what the Lord wanted him to do, as he had the first two times. Instead, he looked out toward the desert


and were thrown down to the earth. Yes, that old snake and his angels were thrown out of heaven! That snake, who fools everyone on earth, is known as the devil and Satan.


God gave the Holy Spirit and power to Jesus from Nazareth. He was with Jesus, as he went around doing good and healing everyone who was under the power of the devil.


So I will call you Peter, which means “a rock.” On this rock I will build my church, and death itself will not have any power over it.


I, the Lord, will work miracles just as I did when I led you out of Egypt.


“What can we do with these men? Everyone in Jerusalem knows about this miracle, and we cannot say it didn't happen.


Jesus knew what they were thinking, so he said to them: Any kingdom where people fight each other will end up ruined. And a town or family that fights will soon destroy itself.


Who makes these things happen? Who controls human events? I do! I am the Lord. I was there at the beginning; I will be there at the end.


The apostles worked many miracles and wonders among the people. All of the Lord's followers often met in the part of the temple known as Solomon's Porch.


You are wonderful, and while everyone watches, you store up blessings for all who honor and trust you.


Everyone kept quiet and listened as Barnabas and Paul told how God had given them the power to work a lot of miracles and wonders for the Gentiles.


Many men and women started having faith in the Lord.


Then the chief priests and the Pharisees called the council together and said, “What should we do? This man is working a lot of miracles.


Our Lord God, with your own mighty arm you rescued us from Egypt and made yourself famous to this very day, but we have sinned terribly.


You and this woman will hate each other; your descendants and hers will always be enemies. One of hers will strike you on the head, and you will strike him on the heel.”


When the Babylonian king stands at that signpost, he will decide which way to go by shaking his arrows, by asking his idols, and by carefully looking at the liver of a sacrificed animal.


“Our Lord, it seems that you have just begun to show me your great power. No other god in the sky or on earth is able to do the mighty things that you do.


I make liars of false prophets and fools of fortunetellers. I take human wisdom and turn it into nonsense.
