Even before the Lord said these harsh things, he had told Moses, “These people really are rebellious, and I would kill them at once, if I went with them. But tell them to take off their fancy jewelry, then I'll decide what to do with them.” So the people started mourning,


You know how he later wanted it back. But there was nothing he could do to change things, even though he begged his father and cried.


But the ones who should have been in the kingdom will be thrown out into the dark. They will cry and grit their teeth in pain.”


We are ruined by our own stupidity, though we blame the Lord.


When you punished our people, they turned and prayed to you, our Lord.


What they stole was supposed to be destroyed, and now Israel itself must be destroyed. I cannot help you anymore until you do exactly what I have said. That's why Israel turns and runs from its enemies instead of standing up to them.
