My God, my God, why have you deserted me? Why are you so far away? Won't you listen to my groans and come to my rescue?


God had the power to save Jesus from death. And while Jesus was on earth, he begged God with loud crying and tears to save him. He truly worshiped God, and God listened to his prayers.


The Lord decided his servant would suffer as a sacrifice to take away the sin and guilt of others. Now the servant will live to see his own descendants. He did everything the Lord had planned.


Then about that time Jesus shouted, “Eloi, Eloi, lema sabachthani?” which means, “My God, my God, why have you deserted me?”


They say, “Now we'll catch you! God has deserted you, and no one can save you.”


Jesus shouted, “Father, I put myself in your hands!” Then he died.


No passerby even cares. Why doesn't someone notice my terrible sufferings? You were fiercely angry, Lord, and you punished me worst of all.


Some of the people standing there heard Jesus and said, “He's calling for Elijah.”
