Matthew 18:8 - Contemporary English Version Interconfessional Edition

8 If your hand or foot causes you to sin, chop it off and throw it away! You would be better off to go into life paralyzed or lame than to have two hands or two feet and be thrown into the fire that never goes out.

Matthew 18:8
22 পৰস্পৰ সংযোগসমূহ

Night is almost over, and day will soon appear. We must stop behaving as people do in the dark and be ready to live in the light.

Anyone whose name wasn't written in the book of life was thrown into the lake of fire.

You will have to drink the wine that God gives to everyone who makes him angry. You will feel his mighty anger, and you will be tortured with fire and burning sulfur, while the holy angels and the Lamb look on.

Give up your evil ways and start thinking pure thoughts. And be faithful to me! Do you really want to be put to death for your sins?

But I will tell you what will happen to cowards and to everyone who is unfaithful or dirty-minded or who murders or is sexually immoral or uses witchcraft or worships idols or tells lies. They will be thrown into that lake of fire and burning sulfur. This is the second death.

So then, you cannot be my disciple unless you give away everything you own.

Then Jesus said, “Those people will be punished forever. But the ones who pleased God will have eternal life.”

Then the king will say to those on his left, “Get away from me! You are under God's curse. Go into the everlasting fire prepared for the devil and his angels!

Those terrible sinners on Mount Zion tremble as they ask in fear, “How can we possibly live where a raging fire never stops burning?”

he said to Abraham, “Have pity on me! Send Lazarus to dip his finger in water and touch my tongue. I'm suffering terribly in this fire.”

Then you will treat your idols of silver and gold like garbage; you will throw them away like filthy rags.

But we don't want to cause trouble. So go cast a line into the lake and pull out the first fish you hook. Open its mouth, and you will find a coin. Use it to pay your taxes and mine.”
