38 Then she came and stood behind Jesus. She cried and started washing his feet with her tears and drying them with her hair. The woman kissed his feet and poured the perfume on them.

especially in Jerusalem. He sent me to give them flowers in place of their sorrow, olive oil in place of tears, and joyous praise in place of broken hearts. They will be called “Trees of Justice,” planted by the Lord to honor his name.


The way to please you is to be truly sorry deep in our hearts. This is the kind of sacrifice you won't refuse.


I'll have some water brought, so you can wash your feet, then you can rest under a tree.

God blesses those people who grieve. They will find comfort!

The Lord said: It isn't too late. You can still return to me with all your heart. Start crying and mourning! Go without eating.


You smear on olive oil and all kinds of perfume to worship the god Molech. You even seek advice from spirits of the dead.


and you smell so sweet. All the young women adore you; the very mention of your name is like spreading perfume. *


When a sinful woman in that town found out that Jesus was there, she bought an expensive bottle of perfume.


The Pharisee who had invited Jesus saw this and said to himself, “If this man really were a prophet, he would know what kind of woman is touching him! He would know that she is a sinner.”
