Then he helped them understand the Scriptures.


God's word is alive and powerful! It is sharper than any double-edged sword. His word can cut through our spirits and souls and through our joints and marrow, until it discovers the desires and thoughts of our hearts.


My words are a powerful fire; they are a hammer that shatters rocks.


Sometimes I tell myself not to think about you, Lord, or even mention your name. But your message burns in my heart and bones, and I cannot keep silent.


I felt a fire burning inside, and the more I thought, the more it burned, until at last I said:


When you spoke to me, I was glad to obey, because I belong to you, the Lord All-Powerful.


Just as iron sharpens iron, friends sharpen the minds of each other.


The Spirit is the one who gives life! Human strength can do nothing. The words that I have spoken to you are from that life-giving Spirit.


They agreed on a time to meet with Paul, and many of them came to his house. From early morning until late in the afternoon, Paul talked to them about God's kingdom. He used the Law of Moses and the Books of the Prophets to try to win them over to Jesus.


The Lord God gives me the right words to encourage the weary. Each morning he awakens me eager to learn his teaching;


I hope my thoughts will please you, because you are the one who makes me glad.


The sweet smell of incense can make you feel good, but true friendship is better still.


He did not tell them anything without using stories. But when he was alone with his disciples, he explained everything to them.
