The Lord wants you to obey all human authorities, especially the Emperor, who rules over everyone.


The next day the commander wanted to know the real reason why the Jewish leaders had brought charges against Paul. So he had Paul's chains removed, and he ordered the chief priests and the whole council to meet. Then he had Paul led in and made him stand in front of them.


He fell to the ground and heard a voice saying, “Saul! Saul! Why are you so cruel to me?”


Saul started making a lot of trouble for the church. He went from house to house, arresting men and women and putting them in jail.


and they called the apostles back in. They had them beaten with a whip and warned them not to speak in the name of Jesus. Then they let them go.


Remember how I told you that servants are not greater than their master. So if people mistreat me, they will mistreat you. If they do what I say, they will do what you say.


Others grabbed the servants, then beat them up and killed them.


Don't worry about what you will suffer. The devil will throw some of you into jail, and you will be tested and made to suffer for ten days. But if you are faithful until you die, I will reward you with a glorious life.


There will be great earthquakes, and in many places people will starve to death and suffer terrible diseases. All sorts of frightening things will be seen in the sky.


People will do to you exactly what they did to me. They will do it because you belong to me, and they don't know the one who sent me.
