A good reputation at the time of death is better than loving care at the time of birth.

During the day the Lord sent a scorching wind, and the sun beat down on Jonah's head, making him feel faint. Jonah was ready to die, and he shouted, “I wish I were dead!”


and complained, “Moses, we'd be better off if we had died along with the others in front of the Lord's sacred tent.


But I have never used these privileges of mine, and I am not writing this because I want to start now. I would rather die than have someone rob me of the right to take pride in this.


Some of you people of Judah will be left alive, but I will force you to go to foreign countries, and you will wish you were dead. I, the Lord God All-Powerful, have spoken.


The Lord replied, “What right do you have to be angry?”
