Jeremiah 3:7 - Contemporary English Version Interconfessional Edition

7-8 I knew that the kingdom of Israel had been unfaithful and committed many sins, yet I still hoped she might come back to me. But she didn't, so I divorced her and sent her away. Her sister, the kingdom of Judah, saw what happened, but she wasn't worried in the least, and I watched her become unfaithful like her sister.

Jeremiah 3:7
15 পৰস্পৰ সংযোগসমূহ

Your older sister was Samaria, that city to your north with her nearby villages. Your younger sister was Sodom, that city to your south with her nearby villages.

Israel, return! Come back to the Lord, your God. Sin has made you fall.

In every way, Judah and Israel have been unfaithful to me. *

Whenever I complain to you, Lord, you are always fair. But now I have questions about your justice. Why is life easy for sinners? Why are they successful?

You've heard foreigners insult my people by saying, “The Lord chose Israel and Judah, but now he has rejected them, and they are no longer a nation.”

You followed their way of life and their wicked customs, and soon you were more repulsive than they were.

My people are determined to reject me for a god they think is stronger, but he can't help.

People from two or three towns would go to a town that still had water, but it wasn't enough. Even then you rejected me. I, the Lord, have spoken!

You people in Judah and Jerusalem have been unfaithful to the Lord. You have disgraced the temple that he loves, and you have committed the disgusting sin of marrying the worshipers of other gods.
