Although the man and his wife were both naked, they were not ashamed.


Did you forget about me and become unfaithful because you were more afraid of someone else? Have I been silent so long that you no longer fear me?


You will suffer the shame of going naked, because I will take revenge, and no one can escape.


I tremble all over when I think of you and the way you judge.


But even if we don't feel at ease, God is greater than our feelings, and he knows everything.


I am the God who was worshiped by your ancestors Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.” Moses was afraid to look at God, and so he hid his face.


Those terrible sinners on Mount Zion tremble as they ask in fear, “How can we possibly live where a raging fire never stops burning?”


Remember Christ says, “When I come, it will surprise you like a thief! But God will bless you, if you are awake and ready. Then you won't have to walk around naked and be ashamed.”


Moses knew that the people were out of control and that it was Aaron's fault. And now they had made fools of themselves in front of their enemies.


At once they saw what they had done, and they realized they were naked. Then they sewed fig leaves together to cover themselves.


“How did you know you were naked?” God asked. “Did you eat any fruit from that tree in the middle of the garden?”


The people trembled with fear when they heard the thunder and the trumpet and saw the lightning and the smoke coming from the mountain. They stood a long way off


and said to Moses, “If you speak to us, we will listen. But don't let God speak to us, or we will die!”


But we don't want to take a chance on being killed by that terrible fire, and if we keep on hearing the Lord's voice, we will die.


Many have attempted to hide their sins from others— but I refused.
