The first man was named Adam, and the Scriptures tell us that he was a living person. But Jesus, who may be called the last Adam, is a life-giving spirit.


just as surely as the Spirit of God All-Powerful gave me the breath of life.


So our bodies return to the earth, and the life-giving breath returns to God.


You, Lord, are our Father. We are nothing but clay, but you are the potter who molded us.


He doesn't need help from anyone. He gives life, breath, and everything else to all people.


The first man was made from the dust of the earth, but the second man came from heaven.


You will sweat all your life to earn a living; you were made out of soil, and you will once again turn into soil.”


The Lord destroyed everything that breathed. Nothing was left alive except Noah and the others in the boat.


This is a message from the Lord about Israel: I am the Lord! I stretched out the heavens; I put the earth on its foundations and gave breath to humans.


You know the Lord is God! He created us, and we belong to him; we are his people, the sheep in his pasture.


But, my friend, I ask, “Who do you think you are to question God? Does the clay have the right to ask the potter why he shaped it the way he did?


Stop trusting the power of humans. They are all going to die, so how can they help?


So the Lord God sent them out of the Garden of Eden, where they would have to work the ground from which the man had been made.


Our earthly fathers correct us, and we still respect them. Isn't it even better to be given true life by letting our spiritual Father correct us?


But the two men bowed down and prayed, “Our God, you gave these people life. Why would you punish everyone here when only one man has sinned?”


Our inner thoughts are a lamp from the Lord, and they search our hearts.


We each were made from clay, and God has no favorites,


Our bodies are like tents that we live in here on earth. But when these tents are destroyed, we know that God will give each of us a place to live. These homes will not be buildings someone has made, but they are in heaven and will last forever.


We are like clay jars in which this treasure is stored. The real power comes from God and not from us.


Then he breathed on them and said, “Receive the Holy Spirit.


Humans are formed from clay and are fragile as moths, so what chance do you have?


“You are the Lord God, and you know what is in everyone's heart. So I ask you to appoint a leader for Israel.


But streams came up from the ground and watered the earth.


The Lord's chosen leader was our hope for survival! We thought he would keep us safe somewhere among the nations, but even he was caught in one of their traps.


“I, the Lord God, will put breath in you, and once again you will live.


So God created humans to be like himself; he made men and women.


I will wrap you with muscles and skin and breathe life into you. Then you will know that I am the Lord.”
