7 Everything you do is right, our Lord. But still we suffer public disgrace because we have been unfaithful and have sinned against you. This includes all of us, both far and near—the people of Judah, Jerusalem, and Israel, as well as those you dragged away to foreign lands,

And when you finally punished us with this horrible disaster, that was also the right thing to do, because we deserved it so much.


and even our kings, our officials, and our ancestors.


We have rebelled against you just like our ancestors, and we are ashamed of our sins.”


I am embarrassed every day, and I blush with shame.


Only a few of you will survive, and the Lord will force you to leave the land and will scatter you among the nations.


But what good did you receive from the things you did? All you have to show for them is your shame, and they lead to death.


At my command, all of you will be sifted like grain. Israelites who remain faithful will be scattered among the nations. And the others will be trapped like trash in a sifter.


You will remember your evil ways and hate yourselves for what you've done.


I will forgive you, but you will think about your sins and be too ashamed to say a word. I, the Lord God, have spoken.


I will punish them with a terrible disaster, and everyone on earth will tremble when they hear about it. I will force the people of Judah to go to foreign countries, where they will be cursed and insulted.


Whenever I complain to you, Lord, you are always fair. But now I have questions about your justice. Why is life easy for sinners? Why are they successful?


Anyone who makes idols will be confused and terribly disgraced.


When that day comes, the Lord will again reach out his mighty arm and bring home his people who have survived in Assyria, Egypt, Pathros, Ethiopia, Elam, Shinar, Hamath, and the land along the coast.


Our Lord, you always do right, and your decisions are fair.


Keep me from any deadly sin. Only you can save me! Then I will shout and sing about your power to save.


You are really the one I have sinned against; I have disobeyed you and have done wrong. So it is right and fair for you to correct and punish me.


You have always been fair when you punished us for our sins.


You punished us because of our terrible sins. But you did not punish us nearly as much as we deserve, and you have brought some of us back home.


The Lord is a mighty rock, and he never does wrong. God can always be trusted to bring justice.


Lord God of Israel, you have been more than fair by letting a few of us survive. But once again, our sins have made us ashamed to face you.


As long as he is king, Israel will have peace, and Judah will be safe. The name of this king will be “The Lord Gives Justice.”


In those days, Judah will be safe; Jerusalem will have peace and will be named, “The Lord Gives Justice.”


Those who live far away will be struck with deadly diseases. Those who live nearby will be killed in war. And the ones who are left will starve to death. I will let loose my anger on them!


Please show mercy to your chosen city, not because we deserve it, but because of your great kindness.


But they are not only insulting me; they are also harming themselves by doing these shameful things.


Parents will be so desperate for food that they will eat their own children, and children will eat their parents. Those who survive this horror will be scattered in every direction.
