Daniel wrote: In the first year of King Belshazzar of Babylonia, I had some dreams and visions while I was asleep one night, and I wrote them down. The four winds were stirring up the mighty sea,


But suddenly his kingdom will be crushed and scattered to the four corners of the earth, where four more kingdoms will rise. But these won't be ruled by his descendants or be as powerful as his kingdom.


Although the people who were with me did not see the vision, they became so frightened that they scattered and hid.


Daniel wrote: For three weeks I was in sorrow.


Daniel wrote: I was trying to figure out the meaning of the vision, when someone suddenly appeared there beside me.


That was what I saw and heard. I turned pale with fear and kept it all to myself.


Daniel wrote: I was terrified by these visions, and I didn't know what to think.


I am Ezekiel—a priest and the son of Buzi. Five years after King Jehoiachin of Judah had been led away as a prisoner to Babylonia, I was living near the Chebar River among those who had been taken there with him. Then on the fifth day of the fourth month of the thirtieth year, the heavens suddenly opened. The Lord placed his hand upon me and showed me some visions.


God made the four young men smart and wise. They read a lot of books and became well educated. Daniel could also tell the meaning of dreams and visions.
