Daniel 4:32 - Contemporary English Version Interconfessional Edition

32 You will be forced to live with the wild animals, away from people. For seven years you will eat grass, as though you were an ox, until you learn that God Most High is in control of all earthly kingdoms and that he is the one who chooses their rulers.

His mind became like that of an animal, and he was forced to stay away from people and live with wild donkeys. Your father ate grass like an ox, and he slept outside where his body was soaked with dew. He was forced to do this until he learned that the Most High God rules all kingdoms on earth and chooses their kings.


and with my power I created the earth, its people, and all animals. I decide who will rule the earth,


because he wants everyone on earth to know how powerful he is. And he wants us to worship only him.”


Moses answered, “As soon as I leave the city, I will lift my arms in prayer. When the thunder and hail stop, you will know that the earth belongs to the Lord.


“Do it tomorrow!” the king replied. “As you wish,” Moses agreed. “Then everyone will discover that there is no god like the Lord,


But you are our Lord and our God! We ask you to keep us safe from the Assyrian king. Then everyone in every kingdom on earth will know that you are the only Lord.


If you don't, he will send his worst plagues to strike you, your officials, and everyone else in your country. Then you will find out that no one can oppose the Lord.


I will give you treasures hidden in dark and secret places. Then you will know that I, the Lord God of Israel, have called you by name.


The Lord listened to Manasseh's prayer and saw how sorry he was, and so he let him go back to Jerusalem and rule as king. Manasseh knew from then on that the Lord was God.


You control human events— you give rulers their power and take it away, and you are the source of wisdom and knowledge.


But before I could finish speaking, a voice from heaven interrupted: King Nebuchadnezzar, this kingdom is no longer yours.


And if he grabs something, who can stop him or raise a question?


No one can oppose you, because you have the power to do what you want.


Our God is in the heavens, doing as he chooses.


He does as he chooses in heaven and on earth and deep in the sea.


To the Lord, all nations are merely a drop in a bucket or dust on balance scales; all of the islands are but a handful of sand.


God thinks of the nations as far less than nothing.
