King Hiram of Tyre sent some officials to David. They brought along carpenters and stone workers, and enough cedar logs to build David a palace.


Solomon's and Hiram's men worked with men from the city of Gebal, and together they got the stones and logs ready for the temple.


Then one day, as David was talking with Nathan the prophet, David said, “Look around! I live in a palace made of cedar, but the sacred chest has to stay in a tent.”


David knew that the Lord had made him king of Israel and that he had made him a powerful ruler for the good of his people.


King Cyrus of Persia had said the Israelites could have cedar trees brought from Lebanon to Joppa by sea. So they sent grain, wine, and olive oil to the cities of Tyre and Sidon as payment for these trees, and they gave money to the stoneworkers and carpenters.


I will praise you, Lord! You saved me from the grave and kept my enemies from celebrating my death.


Ezekiel, son of man, the people of the city of Tyre have celebrated Jerusalem's defeat by singing, “Jerusalem has fallen! It used to be powerful, a center of trade. Now the city is shattered, and we will take its place.”


Then it turned west to become the northern border and went to Ramah and the fortress-city of Tyre. Near Tyre it turned toward Hosah and ended at the Mediterranean Sea. Asher had a total of 22 towns with their surrounding villages, including Mahalab, Achzib, Acco, Aphek, and Rehob.


King David moved into his new palace, and the Lord let his kingdom be at peace.


He also had 80,000 workers to cut stone in the hill country of Israel, 70,000 workers to carry the stones,
