1 These are the last words of David the son of Jesse. The God of Jacob chose David and made him a great king. The Mighty God of Israel loved him. When God told him to speak, David said:

David, my servant, is the one I chose to be king,


Let the message about Christ completely fill your lives, while you use all your wisdom to teach and instruct each other. With thankful hearts, sing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs to God.


Jesus said to them, “While I was still with you, I told you that everything written about me in the Law of Moses, the Books of the Prophets, and in the Psalms had to happen.”


You sing foolish songs to the music of harps, and you make up new tunes, just as David used to do.


This ends the prayers of David, the son of Jesse.


“I've put my king on Zion, my sacred hill.”


Sing praises to the Lord! Tell about his miracles.


That same day, David instructed Asaph and his relatives for the first time to sing these praises to the Lord:


Our Lord, those who attack you will be broken in pieces when you fight back with thunder from heaven. You will judge the whole earth and give power and strength to your chosen king.


If you are having trouble, you should pray. And if you are feeling good, you should sing praises.


In the book of Psalms, David himself says, ‘The Lord said to my Lord, Sit at my right side


Moses was a prophet, and before he died, he blessed the tribes of Israel by saying:


Jacob called his sons together and said: My sons, I am Jacob, your father Israel.


David's father Jesse was an old man, who belonged to the Ephrath clan and lived in Bethlehem in Judah. Jesse had eight sons:


They sang: Saul has killed a thousand enemies; David has killed ten thousand!


You make my feet run as fast as those of a deer, and you help me stand on the mountains.


You give glorious victories to your chosen king. Your faithful love for David and for his descendants will never end.


and I will always be there to help and strengthen him.
