Its citizens have been put down, and its proud people have been brought to shame.


When that day comes, everyone who is proud will be put down. Only the Lord will be honored.


God blesses those people who depend only on him. They belong to the kingdom of heaven!


That's why I say: “Praise and honor the King who rules from heaven! Everything he does is honest and fair, and he can shatter the power of those who are proud.”


It troubled the Lord to see them in trouble, and his angel saved them. The Lord was truly merciful, so he rescued his people. He took them in his arms and carried them all those years.


Sennacherib, you cursed, shouted and sneered at me, the holy One of Israel.


Evil people are proud and arrogant, but sin is the only crop they produce.


Our Lord, I know that you defend the homeless and see that the poor are given justice.


Though you are above us all, you care for humble people, and you keep a close watch on everyone who is proud.


But you, Lord, tell them, “I will do something! The poor are mistreated and helpless people moan. I'll rescue all who suffer.”


Now I know that the Lord is the greatest God, because he has rescued Israel from their arrogant enemies.”


Moses and Aaron went to the king and told him that the Lord God of the Hebrews had said: How long will you stubbornly refuse to obey? Release my people so they can worship me.


If you put yourself above others, you will be put down. But if you humble yourself, you will be honored.


I am not conceited, Lord, and I don't waste my time on impossible schemes.
