34 They are still following their former religious practices to this very day. They don’t really worship the LORD. Nor do they follow the regulations, the case laws, the Instruction, or the commandment that the LORD commanded the children of Jacob, whom he renamed Israel.

2 Kings 17:34
14 পৰস্পৰ সংযোগসমূহ

The man said, “From now on, your name will no longer be Jacob. You will be called Israel, because you have wrestled with God and with men, and you have won.”

People of Israel, you come from Jacob's family and the tribe of Judah. You claim to worship me, the Lord God of Israel, but you are lying.

At first these people did not worship the Lord, so he sent lions to attack them, and the lions killed some of them.

Then he used twelve stones to build an altar in honor of the Lord. Each stone stood for one of the tribes of Israel, which was the name the Lord had given to their ancestor Jacob. Elijah dug a ditch around the altar, large enough to hold about 14 liters.

Do you really want me to tell him you're here?

Then he said: Jeroboam, take ten pieces of this coat and listen to what the Lord God of Israel says to you. “Jeroboam, I am the Lord God, and I am about to take Solomon's kingdom from him and give you ten tribes to rule.

then he set up his tents and built an altar there to honor the God of Israel.

Jacob said, “Now tell me your name.” “Don't you know who I am?” he asked. And he blessed Jacob.

But the people living in Israel ignored that command and kept on following their old customs.

My friend turned against me and broke his promise.

By living right, you show that you respect the Lord; by being deceitful, you show that you despise him.
