Show that I am right, God! Defend me against everyone who doesn't know you; rescue me from each of those deceitful liars.


I haven't done anything to you, but it's certainly wrong of you to start a war. I pray that the Lord will show whether Israel or Ammon is in the right.


Fight my enemies, Lord! Attack my attackers!


Then Sarai said to Abram, “It's all your fault! I gave you my slave woman, but she has been hateful to me ever since she found out she was pregnant. You have done me wrong, and you will have to answer to the Lord for this.”


Although he was abused, he never tried to get even. And when he suffered, he made no threats. Instead, he had faith in God, who judges fairly.


Dear friends, don't try to get even. Let God take revenge. In the Scriptures the Lord says, “I am the one to take revenge and pay them back.”


Lord God, you punish the guilty. Show what you are like and punish them now.


Job, if I were you, I would ask God for help.

The Lord put you in my power today, but you are his chosen king and I wouldn't harm you. The Lord rewards people who are faithful and live right.


My father Nahor, your grandfather Abraham, and their ancestors all worshiped the same God, and he will make sure that we each keep the agreement. Then Jacob made a promise in the name of the fearsome God his father Isaac had worshiped.


I pray that the Lord will help me escape and show that I am in the right.


You took revenge for me, and you put nations in my power.
