The Lord is my fortress! Don't say to me, “Escape like a bird to the mountains!”


When people mistreat you in one town, hurry to another one. I promise you before you have gone to all the towns of Israel, the Son of Man will come.


I answered, “Why should someone like me have to run and hide in the temple to save my life? I won't go!”


Next, Hezekiah assigned the Levites to their places in the temple. He gave them cymbals, harps, and other stringed instruments, according to the instructions that the Lord had given King David and the two prophets, Gad and Nathan.


Everything David did while he was king is included in the history written by the prophets Samuel, Nathan, and Gad.


One time a group of men from the tribes of Benjamin and Judah went to the fortress where David was staying.


Before David even got up the next morning, the Lord had told David's prophet Gad


David left Adullam Cave and went to the town of Mizpeh in Moab, where he talked with the king of Moab. “Please,” David said, “let my father and mother stay with you until I find out what God will do with me.”


One day the prophet Gad told David, “Don't stay here! Go back to Judah.” David then left and went to Hereth Forest.


David also defeated the Moabites. Then he made their soldiers lie down on the ground, and he measured them off with a rope. He would measure off two lengths of the rope and have those men killed, then he would measure off one length and let those men live. The people of Moab had to accept David as their ruler and pay taxes to him.
