Samuel said, “The Lord has torn the kingdom of Israel away from you today, and he will give it to someone who is better than you.


Too much pride causes trouble. Be sensible and take advice.


Do you doubt the Scriptures that say, “God truly cares about the Spirit he has put in us”?


Haman was furious to learn that Mordecai refused to kneel down and honor him.


You'll never be safe, and your kingdom will be in danger as long as that son of Jesse is alive. Turn him over to me now! He deserves to die!”


An angry person is dangerous, but a jealous person is even worse.


Then I realized that we work and do wonderful things just because we are jealous of others. This makes no more sense than chasing the wind.


Solomon said: What? Let my older brother marry Abishag? You may as well ask me to let him rule the kingdom! And why don't you ask such favors for Abiathar and Joab?


Samuel poured the oil on David's head while his brothers watched. At that moment, the Spirit of the Lord took control of David and stayed with him from then on. Samuel returned home to Ramah.


But no, you disobeyed, and so the Lord won't choose anyone else from your family to be king. In fact, he has already chosen the one he wants to be the next leader of his people.”


Balaam replied, “I was wrong. I didn't know you were trying to stop me. If you don't think I should go, I'll return home at once.”


One day the Israelites started complaining about their troubles. The Lord heard them and became so angry that he destroyed the outer edges of their camp with fire.


One day, Saul told his son Jonathan and his officers to kill David. But Jonathan and David were best friends,


His brothers asked, “Do you really think you are going to be king and rule over us?” Now they hated Joseph more than ever because of what he had said about his dream.


Joseph's brothers were jealous of him, but his father kept wondering about the dream.
