The word that came to Jeremiah from the Lord, after king Zedekiah had struck a pact with all the people in Jerusalem, proclaiming


For the day of vengeance is in my heart. The year of my redemption has arrived.


in an open manner, and not as if cloaking malice with liberty, but like servants of God.


For you, brothers, have been called to liberty. Only you must not make liberty into an occasion for the flesh, but instead, serve one another through the charity of the Spirit.


In the year of the Jubilee, all shall return to their possessions.

And after that, he shall depart with his children, and he shall return to his kindred, to the possession of his fathers.


Then all the leaders and all the people who entered into the pact, heard that each one should release his man servant, and each one his woman servant, to be free, and that they should no longer rule over them. Therefore, they listened, and they released them.
