22 except the land of the priests, which had been delivered to them by the king. To these also a portion of food was supplied out of the public storehouses, and, for this reason, they were not compelled to sell their possessions.

Likewise, we would make known to you, about all the priests, and the Levites, and the singers, and the gatekeepers, and the temple servants, and the ministers of the house of this God, that you have no authority to impose tax, or tribute, or duty upon them.


Let priests who lead well be held worthy of twice the honor, especially those who labor in the Word and in doctrine.


Then, too, while we were with you, we insisted on this to you: that if anyone was not willing to work, neither should he eat.


And let him who is being taught the Word discuss it with him who is teaching it to him, in every good way.


Do you not know that those who work in the holy place eat the things that are for the holy place, and that those who serve at the altar also share with the altar?


nor provisions for the journey, nor two tunics, nor shoes, nor a staff. For the laborer deserves his portion.
