Until now, you have not requested anything in my name. Ask, and you shall receive, so that your joy may be full.


And he considered it pointless to lay his hands on Mordecai alone, for he had heard that he was part of the Jewish people. And so he wanted more: to destroy the entire nation of the Jews, who were in the kingdom of Artaxerxes.


The king's servants, who presided over the doors of the palace, said to him, "Why do you, more than the others, not observe the king's command?"


And since she remained silent, he took the golden scepter and placed it on her neck, and he kissed her and said, "Why do you not speak to me?"


And he swore to her, "Anything that you request, I will give to you, even up to half my kingdom."


When Mordecai had heard this, he tore his garments and put on sackcloth, strewing ashes on his head, and he cried out with a loud voice in the main street of the city, revealing the anguish of his soul.


Then the tribune, taking him by the hand, withdrew with him by themselves, and he asked him: "What is it that you have to tell me?"
