But when he had become strong, his heart was lifted up, even to his own destruction. And he neglected the Lord his God. And entering into the temple of the Lord, he intended to burn incense upon the altar of incense.


your heart might be lifted up, and you might not remember the Lord your God, who led you away from the land of Egypt, from the house of servitude,


But he did not repay according to the benefits which he had received, for his heart was lifted up. And so wrath was brought against him, and against Judah and Jerusalem.


Honor is for the man who separates himself from contentions. But all the foolish meddle in altercations.


Arrogance precedes destruction. And the spirit is exalted before a fall.


A short-tempered man provokes conflicts. Whoever is patient tempers those who are stirred up.


Do not contend against a man without cause, even though he has done no evil to you.


But he gives a greater grace. Therefore he says: "God resists the arrogant, but he gives grace to the humble."


Now a humble brother should glory in his exaltation,


Behold, he who is unbelieving, his soul will not be right within himself; but he who is just shall live in his faith.


Thus says the Lord God: Therefore, you are the one, about whom I spoke in the days of antiquity, by the hand of my servants the prophets of Israel, who prophesied in the days of those times that I would lead you over them.

He struck down ten thousand men of Idumea, in the Valley of the Salt Pits. And he captured 'the Rock' in battle, and he called its name 'Subdued by God,' even to the present day.


And Moses said to Pharaoh: "Appoint for me a time, when I should petition on behalf of you, and your servants, and your people, so that the frogs may be driven away from you, and from your house, and from your servants, and from your people, and so that they may remain only in the river."


And in the manner that wine deceives the heavy drinker, so will the arrogant man be deceived, and he will not be honored. He has enlarged his life like hellfire, and himself like death, and he is never fulfilled. And he will gather to himself all nations, and he will amass for himself all peoples.


And Abimelech, drawing near the tower, fought valiantly. And approaching the gate, he strove to set it on fire.


By the multitude of your wisdom, and by your business dealings, you have multiplied strength for yourself. And your heart has been exalted by your strength.


And he will seize a multitude, and his heart will be exalted, and he will cast down many thousands, but he will not prevail.
