2 Now a centurion had a bond servant who was held in honor and highly valued by him, who was sick and at the point of death.

And said, Blessed be the Lord, the God of my master Abraham, Who has not left my master bereft and destitute of His loving-kindness and steadfastness. As for me, going on the way [of obedience and faith] the Lord led me to the house of my master's kinsmen.


Servants, obey in everything those who are your earthly masters, not only when their eyes are on you as pleasers of men, but in simplicity of purpose [with all your heart] because of your reverence for the Lord and as a sincere expression of your devotion to Him.


Now the centurion, having seen what had taken place, recognized God and thanked and praised Him, and said, Indeed, without question, this Man was upright (just and innocent)!


For he had an only daughter, about twelve years of age, and she was dying. As [Jesus] went, the people pressed together around Him [almost suffocating Him].


When the centurion and those who were with him keeping watch over Jesus observed the earthquake and all that was happening, they were terribly frightened and filled with awe, and said, Truly this was God's Son!


He who pampers his servant from childhood will have him expecting the rights of a son afterward.


If I have walked with falsehood or vanity, or if my foot has hastened to deceit–


But Deborah, Rebekah's nurse, died and was buried below Bethel under an oak; and the name of it was called Allon-bacuth [oak of weeping].


But the centurion, wishing to save Paul, prevented their carrying out their purpose. He commanded those who could swim to throw themselves overboard first and make for the shore,

Then Paul, calling in one of the centurions, said, Take this young man to the commandant, for he has something to report to him.


When the centurion heard that, he went to the commandant and said to him, What are you about to do? This man is a Roman citizen!


When the angel who spoke to him had left, Cornelius called two of his servants and a God-fearing soldier from among his own personal attendants.


NOW [living] at Caesarea there was a man whose name was Cornelius, a centurion (captain) of what was known as the Italian Regiment,


AFTER JESUS had finished all that He had to say in the hearing of the people [on the mountain], He entered Capernaum.


And when the centurion heard of Jesus, he sent some Jewish elders to Him, requesting Him to come and make his bond servant well.
