Like a swallow or a crane, so did I chatter; I did moan as a dove; mine eyes fail with looking upward: O Lord, I am oppressed, be thou my surety.


But those of them that escape shall escape, and shall be on the mountains like doves of the valleys, all of them moaning, every one in his iniquity.


And they have not cried unto me with their heart, but they howl upon their beds: they assemble themselves for grain and new wine; they rebel against me.


Oh that my head were waters, and mine eyes a fountain of tears, that I might weep day and night for the slain of the daughter of my people!


We looked for peace, but no good came; and for a time of healing, and, behold, dismay!


Therefore is justice far from us, neither doth righteousness overtake us: we look for light, but, behold, darkness; for brightness, but we walk in obscurity.


Thy sons have fainted, they lie at the head of all the streets, as an antelope in a net; they are full of the wrath of Jehovah, the rebuke of thy God.


Salvation is far from the wicked; For they seek not thy statutes.


Surely his salvation is nigh them that fear him, That glory may dwell in our land.


I am faint and sore bruised: I have groaned by reason of the disquietness of my heart.


Attend unto me, and answer me: I am restless in my complaint, and moan,


The way of peace they know not; and there is no justice in their goings: they have made them crooked paths; whosoever goeth therein doth not know peace.


And justice is turned away backward, and righteousness standeth afar off; for truth is fallen in the street, and uprightness cannot enter.


And thou hast removed my soul far off from peace; I forgat prosperity.


And it is decreed: she is uncovered, she is carried away; and her handmaids moan as with the voice of doves, beating upon their breasts.


They draw nigh that follow after wickedness; They are far from thy law.


But Nineveh hath been from of old like a pool of water: yet they flee away. Stand, stand, they cry; but none looketh back.
