according to all that thou desiredst of Jehovah thy God in Horeb in the day of the assembly, saying, Let me not hear again the voice of Jehovah my God, neither let me see this great fire any more, that I die not.


This is he that was in the church in the wilderness with the angel that spake to him in the mount Sinai, and with our fathers: who received living oracles to give unto us:


What then is the law? It was added because of transgressions, till the seed should come to whom the promise hath been made; and it was ordained through angels by the hand of a mediator.


And he said, Thou canst not see my face; for man shall not see me and live.


(I stood between Jehovah and you at that time, to show you the word of Jehovah: for ye were afraid because of the fire, and went not up into the mount), saying,


And Jacob called the name of the place Peniel: for, said he, I have seen God face to face, and my life is preserved.


and the sound of a trumpet, and the voice of words; which voice they that heard entreated that no word more should be spoken unto them;


And he said, I heard thy voice in the garden, and I was afraid, because I was naked; and I hid myself.
